The Experience
Few places in the world carry the emotional weight of Pearl Harbor. On December 7, 1941, the surprise attack on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor changed the course of history — drawing the United States into World War II and shaping the modern world as we know it. This tour brings you face to face with that history in the most powerful way possible. Your day begins with hotel pickup from Waikīkī and a comfortable, air-conditioned drive to Pearl Harbor National Memorial. At the visitor center, you'll watch the official documentary film — a sobering account of the attack that sets the tone for the experience ahead. From there, a Navy-operated boat carries you across the harbor to the USS Arizona Memorial, which spans the sunken hull of the battleship below. Oil still seeps from the wreck — a phenomenon known as the "tears of the Arizona" — and the white marble structure above lists the names of all 1,177 sailors and Marines who lost their lives aboard that morning. After the memorial, the tour continues to Ford Island for a completely different chapter of WWII history: the USS Missouri Battleship. Known as "The Mighty Mo," this is the ship where Japan formally surrendered to Allied forces on September 2, 1945 — the moment that ended World War II. You'll walk her decks, stand at the surrender site, explore the ship's massive gun turrets and engine rooms, and hear stories of the sailors who served aboard her. Together, these two sites represent the full arc of the Pacific War — from the attack that started it all to the surrender that ended it. It's one of the most complete and meaningful historical experiences in all of Hawaiʻi.
